February is national "I Love to Read" month, and we are celebrating with our annual Read-a-thon. The theme this year is D.E.A.R. - "Dragons Excited About Reading!".
The money raised will help us support our students with the purchase of new books and other enrichment experiences such as field trips and music opportunit
We had another great week! As a school, we've already read over 91,116 minutes, almost halfway to our goal of 200,000 minutes. We had over 220 students participate this week. The third graders continue to lead with 64% student participation. First grade was close behind with 52% participation.
Who will have the most participants next week?
While we are excited about the reading students are doing at home, ultimately this is a fundraiser.
So far we have raised: $7825. Please consider donating if you're able!
The Read-a-thon tracks minutes read, not the number of books. This allows students with different reading speeds to compete on a level playing field for recognition and prizes. Each student is encouraged to set and reach a personal reading goal.
We'll be entering minutes weekly. The link will be updated on Sundays and sent out by email.
Please complete one form for each child who is participating. The form will no longer accept submissions as of 9:00 am on Wednesday mornings.
It's free, easy, safe and fast to register!
(And if you previously registered in Get Movin for the Dragon Dash in the fall, most of your information is saved, so it's super fast to register for the Read-a-thon.)
Set a daily reading goal. Use the calendar in the Read-a-thon packet to log the number of minutes spent reading each day.
On each Sunday, watch for an email with a link to the Google Form to enter your total minutes for the previous week. The link will also be available here and on our RHSPTA Facebook page.
Ask family members and friends to support your reading goals with a financial donation.
We prefer online donations through your child(ren)'s web page. Cash and checks should be turned into the school office. Checks payable to Randolph Heights PTA.
Please turn in your pledge donations by Friday, March 7.
